So what is this community all about and what kind of people run this thing?
So far - we are all computer systems professionals working in a variety of disciplines. Our community includes system admins, developers, consultants, web designers, architects, graphics designers, etc.
We cover the gambut from Windows to Unix and beyond (and before). We delve into java, php, c, c++, c#, (fortran, pascal, ada, cobol, lisp) all Windows flavors, all unix flavors, shells, scripts, etc. We do windows, linux, hp-ux, solaris, bsd - whatever it takes. We are system architects and builders so we use whatever tools and knowledge that is available to get the job done. We have a huge variety of skills and knowledge and have worked in the IT sector anywhere from help desk to IT directors. This results in many years of experience that needs to be captured and shared.
We are not interested in hacking, M$ bashing, free MP3's, porn, spam, warz, or gaming. There are plenty of other places on the net for that. We are a serious community with a good sense of humor and we like to have fun. We work hard and we play hard. We love to experiment with technology and create things. We are the boxes and wires, the nuts and bolts, and the window dressing.
If you feel like this is a good place for you. Please join us. We arent sure yet what this will end up being - but getting there - thats the adventure. |
